Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee to be awarded Bharat Ratna on August 8

Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. The award is conferred in recognition of the most exceptional service of the highest order.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee will get Bharat Ratna on August 8. According to information from other sources, Pranab Mukharjee will be honored with Bharat Ratna by Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 8, 2019.

On the eve of 70th Republic Day of this year, the central government Modi has given a proposal to Bharatiya Jana Sangh ideologue and one of the founding members of Bharatiya Janata Party Nanaji Deshmukh, the famous Assamese poet as well as a great composer Bhupen Hazarika and our former President Pranab Mukharjee.

After that, the current President Ramanath Kovind had announced the award of Bharat Ratna to these three celebrities including India’s former President Pranab Mukharjee. This is the highest civilian award of Hindustan, which is given for extraordinary national service. Nanaji Deshmukh and Bhupen Hazarika will receive this honor posthumously.

                                             

Pranab Mukharjee served as the 13th president of India from 2012 to 2017. As a strong congressman, Pranab Mukherjee had held various key portfolios like Finance, Defence and External Affairs as Union Minister. Pranab Mukherjee was born in a Bengali family. He earned as an MA degree in Political Science and History and LL.B. from the University of Calcutta. He has also served as a professor of Political Science at West Bengal. Before entering politics, he was working as a journalist with ‘Desher Dak’.

So far 45 persons have been honored with Bharat Ratna and now on 8th August, this number will be 48. For the last time, this honor was given to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in 2015.
